Not Ranveer Singh, It Was South Star Chiyaan Vikram Who Grooved To Dola Re Dola First
Bollywood Divas Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made the world groove to their moves in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas. Their iconic steps on ‘Dola Re Dola’ were recently recreated in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. It was Ranveer Singh and Tota Roy Choudhury's show this time.
While Ranveer Singh is being praised for breaking stereotypes, it was actually Chiyaan Vikram who did it much before.
Rewinding to 2009 when Chiyaan’s film Kanthaswamy arrived in theatres. The movie was filled with him flaunting several get ups but what remained the highlight was when Vikram donned a lady’s outfit. Especially because it resembled Aishwarya and Madhuri’s get-up in the Devdas song.
Chiyaan paid tribute to several Bollywood melodies including Taal Se Taal and Dola Re Dola.
But there’s a catch. He not just danced but also bashed thugs. Donning a saree, Vikram destroyed the goons alongside his dance performance. Written and directed by Susi Ganesan, Kanthaswamy was released in Telugu as Mallanna and ended up receiving negative reviews from the audiences. Let’s watch Chiyaan’s version here:-
Yesterday (3rd August), Ranveer Singh during RRPK’s press conference revealed that he was anxious about doing Kathak.
He revealed, “At the rehearsal, I was a bit anxious because I got a bit of muscle mass weight. I got a lot of chest, biceps and triceps, so much density. So it was very difficult in the initial days. I had to uncondition myself for the grace kathak needs. But I saw Tota killing it. I saw him putting in the sweat and the work.”
“He was doing it in Kolkata and I was doing it in Bombay. We knew we were safe and secure because we were being choreographed by Vaibhavi ma'am. She is absolutely a strickler. She wouldn't leave you until she gets what she wants."
On the work front, Chiyaan will soon be seen in Pa Ranjith’s Thangalaan. Also starring Parvathy Thiruvothu and Malavika Mohanan, the film is a period drama. He is further awaited to feature in Tamil Dhruva Natchathiram which also stars Ritu Varma, Parthiban, Simran and Dhivyadharshini.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is Karan Johar's comeback to direction after seven years and also stars Alia Bhatt, Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi in pivotal roles. The film was released on 28th July globally and has now earned over Rs 67.12 crores at the domestic box office.
