The 25th season of Big Brother is all set to air on 2nd August, 8 PM ET. 16 individuals are all set to compete against each other to win a cash prize of $750,000. AJ Odudu and Will Best will be hosting this season with the involvement of houseguests across all backgrounds and roots.

Among all of them, truck company owner Jag Bains is creating history by becoming the first Sikh ever to participate in Big Brother.

Based on the original Dutch reality show by the same name, this American reality was first launched on July 5, 2000, on CBS. The show’s name has been inspired by a character in George Orwell's 1949 novel ‘Nineteen Eighty-Four’. The Indian version of this show is named ‘Bigg Boss’ and will premiere its 17th season soon.

Who is Jag Bains?

Jag who is the first Sikh houseguest of ‘Big Brother’ is 25 years old and belongs to Omak, Washington. Taking to his Instagram account, Jag shared his happiness about participating in the show and revealed, “Words cannot express the level of excitement I am feeling as I embark on this incredible journey in the Big Brother house this summer!”

“From watching the show as a wide-eyed kid to now becoming a part of it, it feels like an absolute dream come true!”

Bains continued, “As the first-ever Sikh on the show, I feel truly honoured, humbled, and blessed.  I'm deeply grateful for this opportunity to represent my community and share my story with the world…. THANK YOU. Cheers to summer for the history books!”

One of the friends of Jag, Willian Suastegui took to Instagram and shared how they always felt weird of having no Sikh on the show.

“We'd joke about them being the first ones to represent, but now, it's actually happening! Fast forward a few years, and Jag is about to create Big Brother history as the very first Sikh player in 25 seasons! I can't even express how proud and grateful I am to have him as my best friend. It's incredible to see him get the chance to showcase his true self and represent his community in front of millions!” William wrote.

Other than Jag, Big Brother 25 will feature America Lopez, Blue Kim, Bowie Jane, Cameron Hardin, Cory Wurtenberger, Felicia Cannon, Hisam Goueli, Izzy Gleicher, Jared Fields, Kirsten Elwin, Luke Valentine, Matt Klotz, Mecole Hayes, Red Utley and Reilly Smedley.
